Centre of AI and Machine Learning in Agriculture to Come Up in SKUAST-Kashmir

The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) council has approved the establishment of advanced centers for artificial intelligence and machine learning in agriculture, as well as innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship (IIE) in Jammu and Kashmir.

This decision was made during the 34th meeting of the university council, which was chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhawan.

Various agenda points were discussed and approved, including the setup of the centers and the creation of the agro-meteorology division at Shalimar.

The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir’s chief secretary and the principal secretary of the finance department.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha praised the significant contribution of SKUAST-Kashmir to the growth of the agriculture and allied sector in the Union territory.

He emphasized the importance of taking research and innovation from the lab to the fields to improve farmers’ productivity.

The meeting also focused on promoting start-ups and entrepreneurship, implementing smart and intelligent farming practices, and aligning the university’s goals with national priorities.
