J&K’s Tableau at Bharat Parv 2024 Showcases Handicraft Industry and Saffron Cultivation

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has showcased its achievements and cultural heritage at the ‘Bharat Parv 2024’ event in New Delhi. The tableau presented by Jammu and Kashmir focuses on its handicraft industry and saffron cultivation.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, is being held from January 23-31 and features tableaux from different states and union territories.

The Jammu and Kashmir tableau depicts the legend of Raja Jambu Lochan, symbolizing the harmonious inception of Jammu city. It also highlights the newly inaugurated Jambu Zoo, which is the first full-fledged zoo in the Union Territory.

The tableau showcases the delicate papier-mâché artistry of Kashmir and pays tribute to the saffron fields, known as the ‘Saffron Bowl of India’. It also features a scale model of Lal Chowk’s iconic clock tower, representing the region’s urban development.

The sides of the tableau display models of saffron flowers and scenes of artisans crafting Kashmiri carpets and wooden products, showcasing the local craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit of the region.

Jammu and Kashmir has made significant progress in infrastructure development and digital transformation in the past four years, focusing on agriculture, urban and rural infrastructure, public aesthetics, and a clean environment.

The Principal Secretary of the Culture Department in Jammu and Kashmir, Suresh Kumar Gupta, expressed that the tableau represents the commitment to growth and the preservation of heritage in the region.

Bharat Parv 2024 provides a platform for states and union territories to celebrate their unique identities and promote unity and national pride. Bharat Parv is an annual festival celebrated in New Delhi, coinciding with India’s Republic Day celebrations.

The event showcases the cultural diversity of India through traditional cuisines, folk dances, music, arts and crafts, and displays of tableaux from various states and union territories.
