New Delhi, 24th Jan.
The Trinamool Congress announced on Tuesday that it will not be participating in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam. This statement came a few hours after the state unit chief of TMC had expressed support for the Congress rally.

A senior TMC leader stated that seat-sharing discussions need to be concluded before any further action is taken.

The yatra, which is currently taking place in Assam, will later move on to West Bengal and is expected to reach Cooch Behar on January 25.

On Tuesday, some individuals carrying Trinamool Congress flags were seen participating in the yatra, and Assam unit chief Ripun Bora confirmed their involvement in a now-deleted post on X.

However, a senior TMC leader clarified that the party did not officially participate in the yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, although some workers may have joined on their own. The leader emphasized that the priority is to address the seat-sharing talks.

Earlier in the day, Assam Trinamool Congress chief Ripun Bora had posted on X about the party’s participation in the yatra, sharing pictures of TMC workers welcoming Gandhi.

Bora, who was previously associated with the Congress, later deleted the post.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will enter West Bengal on Thursday. However, seat-sharing discussions in West Bengal have hit a deadlock as the TMC offered only two seats to the Congress, which the party deemed insufficient.
