Ayodhya, 22nd Jan. The 51-inch idol of Ram Lalla, beautifully decorated with gold and flowers, was revealed today just before the grand pran pratistha ceremony at the Ayodhya temple.
The idol, carved out of black stone by artist Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru, had been covered with a veil in the days leading up to today’s ceremony.
The Ram Lalla idol on the ground floor of the new temple represents a five-year-old Ram. The first floor, which is yet to be constructed, will house the idols of Raja Ram, Sita, Laxman, and Hanuman.
Earlier, a photograph of the idol went viral on social media, causing controversy. The temple’s chief priest demanded an investigation into who circulated the photograph, as it revealed the idol’s eyes.
“The eyes of Lord Ram’s idol cannot be revealed before the Pran Pratishtha is completed. If the eyes are visible, an investigation should be conducted to determine who revealed them and how the pictures of the idol became viral on social media,” said chief priest Satyendra Das.
A multitude of film stars, sportspersons, musicians, industrialists, and other notable personalities have arrived in the holy town for the ground consecration ceremony. Over 11,000 invitations have been sent to prominent individuals.
