Gandhinagar, 12th Jan. The 10th edition of the ‘Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024’ is currently taking place at the GIFT City, Gandhinagar, until January 12, 2024. This global trade show, which is the largest ever in the country, has the participation of 100 countries as visiting nations and 33 countries as partners.
The event celebrates the 20th anniversary of Vibrant Gujarat as a successful summit and also aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of a self-reliant India by 2047. The summit, themed ‘Gateway to the Future’, aims to bring the best and most innovative solutions from around the world to the forefront.
During the inaugural session on ‘E-Commerce: Businesses at Fingertips’, P K Singh, CEO of GeM, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the organization’s efforts to achieve inclusive growth and optimize public spending.
He acknowledged Gujarat’s significant contribution to promoting a self-reliant India and mentioned that the state achieved INR 9,206 Crore in GeM GMV in FY 23-24, surpassing the previous year’s procurement by 16%. Gujarat-based MSEs have fulfilled orders worth over INR 23,000 Crore since the inception of GeM. GeM has facilitated connections between more than 1300 government departments and entities with Gujarat-based MSE sellers and service providers registered on the platform.
In his address, P K Singh emphasized GeM’s initiatives to create market linkages, improve access to capital, and provide registration support to last-mile sellers and service providers. He also highlighted GeM’s growth trajectory, positioning it as the third largest public procurement platform globally.
Y K Pathak, ACEO of GeM, delivered a keynote speech on the topic of ‘Inclusion of Grassroot’ during a plenary discussion. He emphasized GeM’s role as a digital tool in promoting inclusive growth by integrating marginalized sellers into the public procurement value chain through e-commerce.
The Vibrant Gujarat forum provided GeM with an excellent opportunity to showcase its success story to heads of states, policymakers, think-tanks, diplomats, industrialists, and business executives from around the world. It demonstrated the power of digital means in achieving sustainability in public procurement.
