Delhi’s Winter Power Demand Reaches Record High as National Capital Shivers

The ongoing cold weather in Delhi has resulted in a peak winter power demand of 5611 MW, the highest ever recorded, according to officials from the power distribution companies.

According to real-time data from the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) Delhi, the peak power demand reached 5611 MW at 11:08 AM.

Last Friday, the previous record for winter peak demand was 5559 MW.

The increase in power demand is primarily due to consumers using more electricity for heating purposes, as stated by officials from the power distribution companies.

On Friday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was 7.1 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the city experienced its coldest day of the month so far, with the minimum temperature dropping to 5.3 degrees Celsius.
