Varanasi, 9th Jan. Renowned Hindi and Bhojpuri poet, lyricist, and litterateur Pandit Hariram Hari Bhaiya Dwivedi passed away after a long illness, as confirmed by his family on Tuesday.
He was 87 years old.
Dwivedi, who had been unwell for a considerable period, breathed his last on Monday afternoon at his residence in the Mahmoorganj area of Uttar Pradesh.
His funeral will take place at Manikarnika Ghat on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences.
Dwivedi’s family members stated that the highly acclaimed poet had been in poor health for several months. His condition deteriorated on Sunday night, and he passed away the following day.
They mentioned that Dwivedi’s last rites will be conducted once his eldest son returns from Odisha.
Mourning the loss of Dwivedi, Modi posted on X, “I am saddened by the demise of Pandit Hariram Dwivedi, a great Hindi literary figure and a resident of Kashi. Through his poetry collections like Anganaiya and Jeevandayini Ganga, as well as his numerous compositions, he will always remain a part of our lives. I pray that he finds eternal peace.”
