Ali Azim, the Parliamentary Minority leader in the Maldives, has called for decisive action to address the situation following derogatory remarks made by several Maldivian ministers against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a post on X, Azim suggested measures to remove Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, including a vote of no confidence, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability in the nation’s foreign policy.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, Azim questioned the commitment of the ruling party, asking if they were willing to take necessary steps to remove President @MMuizzu from power and if @MDPSecretariat was prepared to initiate a vote of no confidence.

The diplomatic dispute began after derogatory remarks were made on social media by several Maldivian ministers following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep.

These comments received strong condemnation from India, resulting in the suspension of three deputy ministers in the Maldives.
