New Delhi, 3rd Jan.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 31 locations in Haryana and Rajasthan on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.

The raids are still ongoing at the suspects’ locations, as the Central agency registered the case last month following orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Multiple NIA teams carried out these searches in close coordination with the state police forces.

These actions were taken by the NIA after taking over the case from the Rajasthan Police, as high-profile gangsters were suspected to be involved in the murder.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the chief of Karni Sena, was shot dead on December 5 at his residence in Jaipur, Rajasthan, by three gunmen.

Shortly after the murder, gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for Gogamedi’s murder.

The two gunmen, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, were arrested on December 9 in Chandigarh. They informed the police that Godara had ordered the murder. The initial investigation also revealed that the gunmen, while on the run, were in contact with Godara’s close associates Virendra Chahan and Danaram.

There was a dispute between Godara and Gogamedi regarding the collection of ransom from some businessmen, and officials suspect that this may have led to the murder.

Another woman, along with her husband, who allegedly provided weapons and arranged accommodation, has also been arrested in connection with the case. The third gunman died during the shooting.

The murder of Gogamedi was captured on CCTV, showing two men firing multiple shots at the Karni Sena chief, while another man stood at the door. Gogamedi collapsed on the floor from the gunshot wounds and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gogamedi’s security personnel, who was injured in the incident, also passed away later.
