Two young individuals from Odisha have begun a journey on foot to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to offer prayers at the Ram temple. However, it is likely that they will miss the temple’s inauguration on January 22 as it may take them over 40 days to cover the distance of over 1,400 kilometers from Berhampur town in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

Before starting their journey on Sunday, two 22-year-old friends named Kuresh Behera and Sonu Bisoi, who reside in Chandapur and Kanishi areas respectively, offered prayers at the Ram temple in Kanishi near Berhampur town.

Carrying bags on their backs and flags in their hands, the duo set off for Ayodhya while locals at the temple chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Some people even accompanied them for the first 10-15 kilometers.

Behera mentioned that they have received heartwarming moments of support, with several people, including women, greeting them with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the first day of their journey.

He added that their goal is to walk 30-35 kilometers every day in order to reach Ayodhya in the next 40 days. Although they will miss the temple’s inaugural function, they plan to offer prayers later.

Bisoi expressed their desire to catch a glimpse of Ram Lala seated in the temple in Ayodhya. They sought the blessings of Lord Ram at their village before embarking on their journey.

Both Behera and Bisoi work in private companies.

During their journey, they plan to stay at roadside temples at night and also raise awareness among people about the importance of taking the spiritual path.
