New Delhi, 13th Oct. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) recently organized the Mental Health Week from October 7th to October 12th, 2023.
The purpose of this week was to raise awareness about mental health among the general public.
Various activities were conducted throughout the week, including awareness programs, skits, webinars, rallies, health checkups, quizzes, and workshops.
These activities took place at over 60 locations across the country.
DEPwD is the main department responsible for the development of people with disabilities in India. It operates under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
During Mental Health Week, several events took place to raise awareness and promote mental health wellbeing.
CRC Gorakhpur organized a poster competition, while the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) RC Navi Mumbai conducted a National Level Online CRE on “Promoting Mental Health Wellbeing of PwIDs & their Families” on October 10, 2023.
The program was attended by 130 rehabilitation professionals.
Additionally, the National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation (NIMHR) organized a Nukkad Natak (street play) at the railway station in Sehore to observe Mental Health Week.
Other national institutes, CRCs, and affiliated institutions also participated in the observance of Mental Health Week.
