New Delhi, 18th June. International Day of Yoga will be celebrated all over the world on June 21, 2022. As part of the Yoga Day countdown, programmes are being organised in various parts of the country.
Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying addressed a Yoga Day countdown function in Vivekananda Kendra grounds in Kanyakumari today.
He said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations announced on December 21, 2014 to celebrate International Day of Yoga every year on June 21. From that year onwards, IDY has been celebrated every year for the past eight years, he added.
As India is celebrating 75 years of Independence this year, Yoga Day countdown is being organised for 75 days by various ministries and departments.
Today’s yoga day countdown is being organised by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, the minister pointed out.
Yoga which originated in our country is now followed all over the world. Dr Murugan said that youth can be healthy by performing yoga asanas daily.
He said that more than 75000 youth all over the country will perform yogasanas on forthcoming International Day of Yoga on June 21.
Kanyakumari District Collector Aravind, Nagercoil MLA M R Gandhi participated in the function at Kanyakumari.
