Tenkasi, 24th Nov: Six people were killed and 28 others injured in a head-on collision between two private buses in Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi district on Monday. The crash occurred when a bus travelling from Madurai to Senkottai collided with another headed from Tenkasi towards Kovilpatti.
The impact left both vehicles severely damaged, prompting an extensive rescue operation by local authorities and firefighters. Police officials said the preliminary investigation points to reckless driving by the Keysar bus coming from Madurai.
“Investigators believe speeding and negligent driving by the Keysar bus driver caused the crash,” a senior officer told NDTV. All 28 injured passengers have been admitted to nearby hospitals. Health officials noted that several victims are in serious condition and warned that the death toll could rise.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. In a post on X, he said he had directed the district collector to visit the government hospital and ensure that all injured passengers receive high-quality treatment.
“I convey my deepest condolences to the deceased and my sympathies to their families. The government stands in support for the swift recovery of those who have been injured,” he stated.
