56 “Rastriya Vigyan Puraskar” announced in four categories

New Delhi, 14th Jan.The Rastriya Vigyan Puraskar in Science, Technology, and Innovation has been announced by the Bharatiya government. The National Award honours academics, technologists, and innovators for their exceptional and motivating contributions to science, technology, and innovation.

For the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar (RVP), nominations and applications are being accepted from people or groups working in a variety of scientific, technological, and technology-led innovative domains.

The awards will be given out in the four categories listed below:

  1. Vigyan Ratna (VR): Up to three awards in total will be given out to honour lifetime accomplishments and contributions to a particular sector of science and technology.
  2. Vigyan Shri (VS): To honour outstanding accomplishments in a particular sector of science and technology, a maximum of 25 awards would be given out.
  3. Vigyan Yuva: Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY-SSB) award: Up to 25 awards will be given out to young scientists who have made outstanding contributions to a particular sector of science and technology in order to honour and motivate them.
  4. The Vigyan Team (VT) trophy: Maximum of three prizes may be awarded to a team composed of three or more scientists/researchers/innovators who have made an exceptional contribution working in a team as the subject of Science and Technology.

The following 13 domains will be covered by the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar: Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Technology & Innovation, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Mathematics & Computer Science, Earth Science, Medicine, Engineering Sciences, and Others.

The Ministry of Home Affairs’ Award Portal (https://prizes.gov.in/) is open for nominations for this bouquet of awards from January 14, 2024, to February 28, 2024. The rewards site has the specifics of the RVP as well as the general requirements. The Ministry of Science and Technology’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is in charge of organising this year’s prizes.

 

The National Technology Day (May 11, 2024) announcement of the awards will take place. The National Space Day, August 23, 2024, will mark the day of the award ceremony for all prize categories.
