Shimla, 5th Feb. A total of 475 roads, including five national highways, have been closed in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy snowfall.
The data shows that 56 roads in Chamba, 1 in Kangra, 6 in Kinnaur, 51 in Mandi, and 133 roads in Shimla have been closed due to snowfall.
On Saturday, a total of 504 roads, including 4 national highways, were closed, and electricity and water supply schemes were disrupted in the state due to snowfall.
Snow-clearing operations are currently underway in nine stations of Lahaul-Spiti after the higher areas of the district received fresh snowfall.
The Lahaul Spiti police have provided updates on the weather and road conditions in the district through their social media accounts.
Himachal Pradesh has been attracting a large number of tourists since the New Year, as other North Indian states are experiencing heavy fog while Himachal Pradesh is witnessing snowfall.
However, the Himachal Pradesh Police have advised people to assess the weather conditions before traveling and to only travel when necessary.
Earlier on Friday, a total of 566 roads, including nearly six national highways, were reported closed in various regions of Himachal Pradesh due to heavy snowfall.
In addition, approximately 700 electricity supply schemes were disrupted in the state.
