Baramulla, 2nd Feb: An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir early Monday morning, officials said.
According to officials, the tremor was recorded at around 5.35 am, with the epicentre located in the Pattan area of the district. The quake was felt in several parts of north Kashmir, briefly alarming residents who rushed out of their homes.
However, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property, officials confirmed, adding that the situation is being closely monitored. Local administration and disaster response teams remain on alert as a precautionary measure.
