New Delhi, 15th August. Central Bureau of Investigation officers investigating the coal scam and tasked with internal vigilance are among the 30 sleuths honoured with police medals on the 76th anniversary of the country’s independence, officials said Sunday.
The winners were announced on the eve of Independence Day.
According to the CBI, six officers were awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS), while 24 were awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS).
Additional SP Alok Kumar, who is part of the Special Unit of Mumbai tasked with preventing corruption within the agency, received the PPMDS.
The PPMDS was also awarded to Deputy Superintendents Atul Hajela, Tejprakash Devrani, and T.Sridharan, as well as Sub-Inspector (SI) Gurmeet Singh and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narpat Singh.
The PMMS was presented to Deputy Inspector General Keshav Ram, who investigated the coal scam, and Additional Legal Advisor Vijay Kumar Sharma, who successfully built a foolproof case in the matter.
