THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 24th Dec: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday published the draft electoral roll for Kerala following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, deleting over 24.08 lakh electors from the voter lists across the state.

According to official data, out of 2,78,50,855 electors, a total of 2,54,42,352 voters submitted their Enumeration Forms during the revision process.

The ECI attributed the deletions to multiple factors, including voters who had shifted to other states or Union Territories, those not found in existence, electors who failed to submit forms by December 18, and those unwilling to continue registration. Among the deleted names were 6,49,885 deceased voters (2.33%), 14,61,769 shifted or absent voters (5.25%), and 1,36,029 duplicate voters (0.49%).

While the enumeration period concluded on Tuesday, the poll body has opened a claims and objections window from December 23 to January 22, 2026, allowing citizens to seek inclusion of eligible voters or deletion of ineligible entries.

To ensure maximum participation, the ECI conducted extensive awareness campaigns across the state. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carried out house-to-house visits, supported by Anganwadi workers, volunteers, students, and revenue officials. Several motivational and outreach initiatives—including night outreach drives, urban camps, social campaigns, and digital support models—were implemented to accelerate digitisation and ensure accuracy.

The final electoral roll for Kerala is scheduled to be published on February 21, 2026.
