21 Police and Home Guard Personnel Injured as Bus Overturns in MP After Poll Duty

Betul, 20th April.
 Twenty-one police and Home Guard personnel were injured when the bus they were traveling in overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district early this morning, according to an official.

The officers were on their way back to Rajgarh in the state after completing their election duty when the accident happened near Baretha Ghat on the Bhopal-Betul highway, the official explained.

The incident occurred around 4 am, as reported by Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Shalini Paraste.

The bus, carrying a total of 40 officers including five policemen and the rest being home guards, was heading to Rajgarh after their election duty in Chhindwara, she added.

Eight of the officers who were seriously injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital in Betul, while those with minor injuries are being treated at Shahpur hospital, the police official mentioned.

The accident happened when the bus had to swerve to avoid a truck that came into its path, she stated.

The polling for the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat took place on Friday.
