New Delhi, 28th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that 2025 had given India greater confidence and strengthened its global standing, as he addressed the nation in the 129th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat.

Reflecting on the year gone by, the Prime Minister said India left a strong imprint across sectors ranging from national security and science to sports and culture. He described Operation Sindoor as a defining moment of 2025, underlining that the world had clearly seen that “today’s India does not compromise on its security.”

Modi lauded India’s sporting achievements, including victories by the men’s cricket team in the ICC Champions Trophy, the women’s cricket team’s first World Cup win, and historic triumphs by Indian athletes in para-sports and blind cricket. He also highlighted progress in science and space, noting that Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station.

Stressing the role of youth in nation-building, the Prime Minister spoke about the upcoming ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue’ and growing participation in initiatives such as the Smart India Hackathon. He said more than 13 lakh students and over 6,000 institutions have taken part in the Hackathon over the years, offering practical solutions to real-life challenges.

Modi also underlined efforts to preserve India’s cultural roots, citing initiatives like ‘Geetanjali IISc’, ‘Kannada Pathshale’ in Dubai, and the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, which have helped strengthen linguistic and cultural pride among the younger generation.

Turning to health, the Prime Minister flagged an ICMR report warning that indiscriminate use of antibiotics is making them ineffective against diseases such as pneumonia and UTIs. He urged citizens to avoid self-medication and use antibiotics strictly on doctors’ advice.

Highlighting traditional arts as engines of economic empowerment, Modi spoke about Narasapuram lace craft in Andhra Pradesh, which has received the GI tag and provides livelihoods to nearly one lakh women, as well as grassroots entrepreneurs from Manipur who are transforming local communities through handicrafts and floriculture.

As the country prepares to welcome 2026, the Prime Minister called upon citizens to remember unsung freedom fighters, take pride in India’s heritage, and participate in cultural festivals such as the ongoing Kutch Rannotsav.

“This is the last Mann Ki Baat of 2025,” Modi said, expressing confidence that collective efforts will help realise the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He wished the nation a happy and healthy 2026 and urged citizens to stay fit and active during the winter season.
