16 Killed as Gravel-Laden Lorry Collides with Bus in Telangana

Tragic head-on crash near Chevella leaves several dead and others critically injured; rescue efforts underway.

Ranga Reddy, 3rd Nov: In a devastating road accident on Monday, at least 16 people were killed and eight others injured when a gravel-laden tipper lorry collided head-on with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus near Chevella in Ranga Reddy district.

According to police, the collision was so severe that the gravel from the tipper spilled onto the bus, crushing several passengers. “Sixteen people died and eight were injured,” a police official told PTI, adding that the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Local authorities and rescue teams reached the spot immediately and worked to extricate trapped passengers from the bus. Preliminary reports suggest the lorry was speeding when it lost control and rammed into the oncoming RTC bus.

The exact cause of the accident is being investigated. Officials said efforts are on to identify the deceased and inform their families.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to review the situation, while the police have registered a case and begun a detailed inquiry into the mishap.
