Pithoragarh, 21st June. Over 15 district administration employees, including 4 district level officers trapped in high Himalayan Darma valley of Dharchula sub division, from 16 June, this month, will be lifted by chopper, on morning of 22 June. Pithoragarh district magistrate Anand Swroop said.
According to DM, the helicopter, being send by state government to airlift the trapped officials, will arrive to district headquarter on the morning of June 22.
“The district level officers had gone to provide training to some farmers in Dantu village of Darma valley, but were trapped after the road to valley closed due to washing away of a new concrete bridge made at Kanchoti village of the valley. As the bridge will take much time to reconstruct, the heli lifting is only way to take them out from there.”said the DM.
According to the district magistrate, the officers include, Chief horticulture officer, deputy district veterinary officer, district employment officer and district fishery officer.”Accompanied them are other assistants and fisheries experts who have come from Nainital.”said the DM.
“All the officers are hail and hearty, the local gram pradhans ITBP officials and CPWD officers are taking care of them .”said the DM.
The villagers of Darma valley have said that the have been trapped for over a month as the reconstruction of bridge will take more than a month,
“Over 35 villages of Malla(upper), Talla(lower) Darma and Chaundas valley have gone affected by those washing away of key bridge.”Said Shalu a Datal villager from Dangi village of Darma valley.
However pithoragarh district magistrate said that administration is trying develop an alternative way to the valley, used by locals till the bridge gets reconstructed at Kanchoti.
“we will not let the villagers suffer from any essential shortages as the villagers are on summer migration these days.”said the DM.
