Jaipur, 3rd Nov: At least 12 people were killed and as many injured after a speeding dumper truck ploughed into several vehicles in a horrific chain collision in Jaipur’s Harmada area on Monday afternoon, officials said.
According to Jaipur District Collector Jitendra Soni, the dumper—coming from Road No. 14 towards the Loha Mandi petrol pump—rammed into multiple vehicles over a stretch of nearly 300 metres. “Twelve people died in the accident and as many have been injured,” he told PTI.
The dumper, which was reportedly empty, smashed through cars, two-wheelers, and small transport vehicles before coming to a halt. Several of the injured are in critical condition and have been referred to the trauma centre at SMS Hospital.
Police and emergency teams rushed to the scene, diverted traffic, and initiated clearance operations to remove the mangled vehicles from the highway. Ambulances ferried the injured to nearby hospitals.
This tragic incident marks the second major road accident in Rajasthan in two days. On Sunday evening, 15 people—including 10 women and four children—lost their lives when a tempo traveller collided with a stationary trailer truck in Phalodi area of Jodhpur district.
