New Delhi, 24th Feb. Under the guidance of Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DOPPW) successfully conducted the 10th Pension Adalat on 22nd February 2024, aimed at resolving pensioners’ grievances.
Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, chaired the nationwide Pension Adalat in New Delhi, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promptly addressing pensioners’ concerns. These Pension Adalats serve as vital platforms for expedited grievance redressal by bringing together various stakeholders.
The focus of the 10th Pension Adalat was the resolution of long-pending Family Pension Cases, with 105 grievances pending for over 100 days deliberated upon. Representatives from 12 Ministries/Departments, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Defence Finance, and Ministry of Railways, participated in the event. Out of the 105 cases, an impressive 85 cases were resolved on the spot.
Among the notable cases addressed during the Pension Adalat:
– Resolution of Smt. Anita Kanik Rani’s Grievance: After a 20-year struggle for family pension following her husband’s demise, Smt. Anita Kanik Rani’s grievance was successfully resolved during the Adalat. The CPWD informed that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) had been issued in her name on the same day, with arrears totaling around Rs. 22 lakh.
– Smt. Nirmla Devi’s Revised PPO: Despite seven years of effort, Smt. Nirmla Devi, wife of Late Kishan Singh retired from Delhi Police, finally received a revised Pension Payment Order (PPO) in accordance with the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The Department confirmed the issuance of the revised PPO and assured the release of arrears.
– Resolution of Smt. Geeta Devi’s Lifetime Pension Arrear: Smt. Geeta Devi, mother of Late Ct(GD) Kumar Chandan Singh of BSF, struggled for years to get her PPO revised as per the 7th CPC. During the Pension Adalat, BSF informed that the revised PPO had been sent to CPAO, ensuring the release of pension arrears soon.
– Smt. Mashuri Devi’s Grievance: Smt. Mashuri Devi, seeking family pension and lifetime arrears from Assam Rifles, found resolution during the Adalat. The Assam Rifles clarified the delay due to a discrepancy in the claimant’s name and assured the payment of arrears and pension through the Nepal Embassy.
– Resolution of Smt. Supriya Shailja’s Medical Claim: Smt. Supriya Shailja, wife of Late Rajnish Yadav, Addl. Commissioner Income Tax, ITAT, Lucknow, finally received reimbursement for her medical claim after facing repeated delays. The Department confirmed the payment of Rs. 8 lakh and assured further processing of the remaining claim.
