Chhindwara, 26th March: At least 10 people were killed and more than 20 others injured after a bus collided with a pick-up vehicle in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district on Thursday, police said.
The accident occurred near Simaria on the Nagpur road, about 25 kilometres from the district headquarters. The bus was returning from a public function attended by the Chief Minister at the time of the incident.
Superintendent of Police Ajay Pandey said the deceased included six men, three women and a child. The bus was carrying over 40 passengers, officials added.
Following the collision, several passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the district hospital and nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Senior officials, including the district collector and police officers, reached the hospital to monitor the situation and ensure proper medical care for the injured.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
