Mumbai, 10th Feb. Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, known for his channel BeerBiceps, has stirred controversy with an inappropriate comment on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube reality show India’s Got Latent.
During a recent episode featuring digital creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija (The Rebel Kid), Allahbadia posed a highly explicit and offensive question to a contestant. A clip of the remark went viral, drawing widespread criticism from netizens and public figures.
Backlash from Public Figures
Noted journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra slammed the content, calling out the “perverted creators” shaping India’s digital landscape.
“This content is not age-restricted and is easily accessible to children. The creators and platforms show zero responsibility,” Misra wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
He also criticized the audience for normalizing such content, stating, “Decency is not incentivized in India, and creators are stooping lower for reach and revenue.”
Political Reaction
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate echoed the outrage, calling the remark “perverse” and warning against normalizing such behavior.
“The fact that this sick comment met loud applause must worry us all,” she remarked.
Calls for Government Action
Several users demanded intervention from Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging action against such content.
“It will have a detrimental impact on children and youth,” a concerned user wrote.
Social Media Outrage
Many users called out Allahbadia’s insensitive remark, while some even criticized actor Amitabh Bachchan for associating with influencers like Samay Raina and Tanmay Bhat, who recently appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Ranveer Allahbadia has not yet responded to the controversy.
This is not the first time India’s Got Latent has sparked debate. Last week, a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh faced legal action over a remark on dog meat.
