Doimukh, 30th Nov. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday highlighted the pivotal role of youth as “watchdogs of parliamentary democracy” during the 22nd Convocation Ceremony of Rajiv Gandhi University at Rono Hills, Doimukh.

Addressing students and faculty, he underscored the importance of accountability, urging parliamentarians to uphold public trust and prioritize constructive dialogue over disruptive strategies.

VP Dhankhar applauded the eradication of corruption from India’s power corridors, calling it a “neutralized drain” that once hindered young talent. “Corruption, nepotism, and favoritism, which were barriers to merit, have been eliminated, creating a level playing field for the youth,” he asserted.

Reflecting on India’s global ascent, the Vice-President noted that India is a nation on the rise—on land, sea, sky, and space. He celebrated India’s position as the fifth-largest economy, with aspirations to soon become the third-largest.

Advocating for self-reliance, Dhankhar encouraged the promotion of local products, warning against the overuse of imported goods. “Believing in local contributes to the national economy, prevents the loss of jobs, and preserves foreign exchange,” he said, urging optimal utilization of natural resources as a shared responsibility.

He concluded by reminding students of their privilege to witness India’s growing global recognition, emphasizing the nation’s unparalleled rise in modern times.

The event was graced by Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen. Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik (Retd.), Rajiv Gandhi University Chancellor Dr. J. Suresh Babu, Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Nayak, and other dignitaries.
