New Delhi, 22nd Jan. A group of probationers from the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) and Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS) had the honor of calling on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
In her address to the probationers, President Murmu emphasized that they are joining their respective services at a transformative moment in India’s development. Highlighting the convergence of emerging technologies, rapid information dissemination, and a shifting global landscape, she called on them to navigate the complexities of this exciting environment.
“The role you play will be vital in India’s inclusive development and in making the nation more competitive on the global stage,” President Murmu said. She stressed the importance of a citizen-centric approach in their duties, advising the officers to keep the needs and aspirations of deprived and underprivileged communities in mind while making decisions. Their actions and decisions, she added, will significantly influence the country’s future trajectory.
Addressing the probationers from the Indian Defence Accounts Service, President Murmu outlined their pivotal role in overseeing the financial aspects of India’s armed forces. She urged them to focus on ensuring seamless financial management, promoting accountability, and maintaining transparency. The President also encouraged the officers to leverage cutting-edge technologies to streamline auditing and accounting processes, contributing to the security and prosperity of the nation.
Turning to the Indian Telecommunications Service officers, she highlighted the transformative telecom revolution India has experienced over the past two decades.
“The advent of mobile telephony and high-speed internet networks has unlocked India’s vast digital potential,” President Murmu remarked.
She encouraged ITS officers to enhance digital connectivity through telecom infrastructure, which would foster inclusive development and improve the quality of life for citizens. The President further emphasized the importance of research and development in the telecom sector to ensure the safety and security of communication networks.
