New Delhi, 15th May: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has reiterated the urgent need for a united global stance against terrorism, stating that “the world must speak in one voice to stamp out all forms of terrorism, wherever they exist.” His remarks came during a telephonic conversation with Milton Dick, who was recently re-elected as the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives.

Congratulating Dick on behalf of the Indian Parliament, Birla extended his best wishes for the new tenure and expressed hope for stronger parliamentary engagement between India and Australia.

Birla also thanked his Australian counterpart for the country’s solidarity with India in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. “We appreciate Australia’s support in our fight against terrorism,” he said.

Highlighting the warm ties between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Birla expressed confidence that the India-Australia relationship would further deepen during Albanese’s current term. He also welcomed the upcoming visit of the Australian Prime Minister later this year for the Quad and bilateral summits.

Birla concluded by expressing hope that under Dick’s speakership, India-Australia parliamentary cooperation would reach new heights and collaboration in multilateral forums would be further strengthened.
