Vivek Sharma was appointed as VC of Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak by Bhajan Lal. But students of the University enjoying patronage of a sibling of a powerful politician wanted Vivek Sharma to resign so that they could get a new VC appointed, a person of their choice. Operation removal of Vivek Sharma. was launched. Vivek Sharma was given hints suggesting him to resign and even threatened of consequences in case he did not resign.. Since unruly elements were getting desperate and restive. So the sibling of a powerful politician and a top IPS officer planned a strategy according to which Vivek Sharma was to be attacked in order to terrorise him for resignation . . Rohtak Police was givien behind the scene necessary instructions. The powerful politician was not even aware of any such plan.

Although the politician wanted the resignation of Vivek Sharma but he did not want coercive methods to be adopted. He was not taken into confidence about the move to attack Vivek Sharma. On the fateful day, hundreds of unruly elements gheraoed the official residence of Vivek Sharma in the University Campus and indulged into hooliganism but did not succeeded in attacking Vivek Sharma and had to keep waiting outside his residence. They searched the houses of faculty members of the University as well as the PGIMS,..

House of Dr.S.B.Siwach , dean of PGIMS was also searched and even a container carrying wheat was emptied suspecting that Vivek Sharma was hiding in it. Vivek Sharma was shocked and after some time he went to PGIMS,Rohtak in University premises for check up and he was chased there also. For a few hours there was no Rule of Law in the University campus and goons were calling the shots. A complaint of Vivek Sharma was registered but the accused took shelter at the Delhi residence of a sibling of a powerful politician  DC TVSN.Prasad was perturbed as Police were not arresting the accused. Prasad reportedly wrote a strongly- worded letter to the then Rohtak ,SP,Parminder Rai, asking him to ensure the arrest of the accused. Ultimately, the unruly elements were arrested.
