West Bengal: Torture on Janajatiya Woman and Attack on Temple, 5 Muslim Youths Arrested

Kolkata, 29th May. Police arrested 5 Muslim youths for torture on Janajatiya woman and attacking a temple of Janajatiya community in Jambani area under Jhargram district of West Bengal.

The names of the arrested youths are Seikh Rahman, Seikh Akram, Abdul Rawan Khan, Akram Khan and Sajjad Khan. They all are residents of Poramati village under Jambani police station.

Local people of Kapamari village Janajati community said that on the morning 17th May, two Janajatiya women went to the jungle adjacent to the village. A Muslim youth named Jahid Khan and his friends of adjacent village Poramati tried to rape a woman. Another woman somehow managed to flee and came to the village. She informed villagers about the incident. Villagers rushed to the jungle and caught Jahid Khan.

Villagers took the accused inside the village and kept him tied. After some time, around three hundred Muslim youths from Poramati village attacked Kapamari village. They beat up Janajatiya people. Also they attacked the temple of Janajatiya community. They broke the tubewell. And they took away the accused.

Later, a complaint was filed in Jambani police station. After three days of manhunt, police arrested 5 Muslim youths. Investigation is still on and others accused are absconding.
