West Bengal Government Announces Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle

The West Bengal government carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle on Monday, appointing Vivek Kumar as the additional chief secretary of the Land and Land Reform & Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Department, along with several other key appointments.

Vivek Kumar will also assume additional responsibilities as the head of the Animal Resources Development Department, while continuing to serve as the officer on special duty (OSD) of Biswa Bangla Corporation at the office of the resident commissioner in New Delhi, confirmed a government official.

In another step, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, currently serving as the additional chief secretary (ACS) of the Fire and Emergency Department, has been assigned the additional charge of the Forest Department.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee highlighted these changes during a recent meeting, emphasizing the return of Vinod Kumar to the role of Municipal Secretary.

Additionally, Krishna Gupta, formerly ACS of the Mass Education Extension and Library Services Department, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Cooperation Department, according to the official.

Binod Kumar has been appointed as the principal secretary of the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department, marking another key appointment in the bureaucratic realignment.
