The concerned trial court has been notified, and the counsels have been discharged from the case. According to sources, Grover decided to withdraw from the case due to “certain intervening factors and circumstances.” As a result, she will no longer be involved in the proceedings for the victim’s family. Grover’s legal chamber, which includes advocates Soutik Banerjee and Arjun Gooptu, had been requested by the victim’s parents to provide legal representation before various courts, including the Supreme Court, Calcutta High Court, and the Sealdah sessions court. The chamber had been offering pro bono legal services to the family since September 2024. The victim, a post-graduate trainee doctor, was found dead in the seminar room of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. A post-mortem confirmed she had been raped and murdered. Following a series of PILs, including one filed by the victim’s parents, the Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), seeking an impartial probe.
