New Delhi, 20th Sept. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday urged the media to shift from an individual-centric approach to a focus on institutions and national development. Addressing the inaugural session of the Sansad TV@3 Conclave at Parliament House, he emphasized the importance of avoiding associations with individuals who harbor sinister designs against India.

“Can we have accolades for those maligning our nation? Our sacred institutions are being undermined, affecting our growth,” Dhankhar stated, highlighting the role of media in shaping national discourse. He cautioned against excessive criticism, calling it “antiethical to democratic values,” and urged the media to spotlight positive development stories.

Dhankhar noted that development is often sidelined in news agendas, saying, “Development is not on the radar; we need to revisit our agenda.” He stressed that every Indian abroad is an ambassador of the nation, reinforcing the need to safeguard India’s image on the global stage.

The Vice-President also addressed the importance of each democratic institution operating within its constitutional boundaries, warning that inter-institutional encroachment could jeopardize the system. He urged for a collective, non-partisan effort towards national development, emphasizing that progress should not be viewed through a political lens.

In closing, Dhankhar acknowledged India’s significant advancements across sectors, including the digital empowerment of farmers, and called for recognition of achievements that reflect the efforts of ordinary citizens, not just political entities.
