Vincy Aloshious Accuses Shine Tom Chacko of Drug Use, Misconduct on Film Set

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actor Vincy Aloshious, who won the Kerala State Award for Best Actress in 2023, has alleged that co-actor Shine Tom Chacko used drugs and made sexually inappropriate remarks during the shooting of the upcoming film Soothravakyam. However, she clarified on Thursday that she would not file a police complaint, though she is ready to cooperate if approached by authorities.

Speaking to a Malayalam news channel, Vincy said she has submitted written complaints to the Kerala Film Chamber and Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), urging them to take action.

“My complaint is not against the film or its crew, but solely against the actor. Everyone on the set was working hard to complete the film,” she said.

According to Vincy, the alleged incident occurred in November 2024. She accused Chacko of making sexually explicit comments and behaving inappropriately with her and a fellow female actor. She claimed the behavior stemmed from drug use on the set, noting that Chacko was “spitting white powder” during rehearsals and made lewd remarks like, “I’ll fix your dress for you.”

The film’s director was reportedly informed and warned Chacko to avoid such conduct, but no formal complaint was filed at that time to avoid disrupting the shoot.

Industry Reacts to Explosive Allegations

Kerala Film Chamber General Secretary Saji Nanthyatt said strict action would follow based on the complaint. AMMA ad hoc convenor Jayan Cherthala confirmed the association would fully support Vincy, even though she is not a member.

Actor-director Joy Mathew, part of AMMA’s ad hoc panel, said Chacko would be given a chance to respond. “Nobody can impose discipline. Artists must uphold self-discipline,” he added.

This is not Shine Tom Chacko’s first controversy involving drugs. He was previously arrested in a 2015 drug case, but later acquitted due to procedural lapses by police.

Excise Department May Step In

Kerala Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh said the department is closely monitoring the matter. “If film bodies forward the complaint, we will register a case. Even otherwise, we will take serious action based on any available information,” he said.

The issue of drug use in the Malayalam film industry has sparked ongoing debates, and Vincy’s public statement has once again brought it to the forefront. At a recent anti-drug event, she openly declared she would never work with drug-using actors again.

Vincy Clarifies on Instagram

In a recent Instagram video, Vincy elaborated on the incident without initially naming the actor. She described the experience as “deeply uncomfortable and traumatic.” After speculation, she formally named Shine Tom Chacko in her written complaint to the Film Chamber.

As the industry awaits a formal response from Chacko, the revelations have ignited a heated debate about drug abuse, safety, and accountability in cinema.
