Riyadh, 28th May: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was hospitalised while on an official visit to the Gulf, but his condition remains stable, sources confirmed on Tuesday. The 76-year-old senior leader is part of an all-party Indian delegation touring 33 countries to engage with global leaders and communities on India’s stand against terrorism.

BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda, who is heading the delegation, shared the update on social media, saying Azad had to be admitted halfway through the tour. “He is stable and under medical supervision, undergoing some tests and procedures,” Panda said. He added that Azad had been a strong voice in the meetings held so far in Bahrain and Kuwait and was understandably disappointed to miss the upcoming sessions in Saudi Arabia and Algeria.

While details about the hospital and exact location remain private, those travelling with Azad expressed support and wished him a swift recovery. The delegation includes leaders from across the political spectrum, such as Asaduddin Owaisi and several BJP MPs, all working together on a diplomatic mission to counter Pakistan’s narrative on terrorism, especially after the recent Pahalgam terror attack which took the lives of 26 Indian soldiers.

Azad’s participation in the earlier meetings was described as “highly impactful” by Panda. The delegation continues its important work, meeting officials and members of the Indian diaspora across the Gulf and North Africa, carrying India’s message of resilience and resolve.
