Dehradun, 4th Jan. Uttarakhand will host its first International Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference on January 12, bringing together Uttarakhandis from 17 countries to explore investment opportunities in the state. Over 50 prominent NRI participants have already registered for the event, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The one-day conference will feature panel discussions across four sessions focusing on investment opportunities in various sectors, including hospitality, wellness, skill development, and the potential of garden herbs. The event will also cover topics such as employment opportunities abroad, higher education, and various ways in which migrant Uttarakhandis can contribute to the state’s growth.

The conference will see the participation of several well-established NRIs who have made their mark in different fields globally. Notable attendees include Girish Chandra Pant from Dubai, a Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awardee; Dev Raturi from China; Dr. Anita Sharma from the USA; Bhuvan Tiwari from Japan; Sunil Thapliyal from Singapore; Meenakshi Dabral and Dr. A.K. Kala from Thailand.

Speaking about the conference, Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that migrant Uttarakhandis have excelled in diverse sectors such as science, technology, and entrepreneurship. “The government wants migrants to leverage their vast experience to aid in the development of Uttarakhand and their native villages. We are ready to offer all possible assistance,” Dhami said.

Dhami also highlighted the encouragement given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to NRIs for contributing to the development of their home states, which is yielding positive results. The idea for this conference stemmed from Dhami’s visit abroad in December 2023, where he invited investors for an investment summit and was warmly welcomed by migrant Uttarakhandis. Impressed by their ability to preserve their cultural heritage, the Chief Minister proposed this event to bring together NRIs and explore how they can contribute to their home state’s progress.
