Washington D.C., 2nd May: Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In the midst of this heightened situation, the United States has extended its “full support” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce conveyed this message, causing significant concern in Pakistan.

Tammy Bruce stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received complete support from the Trump administration. She emphasized that the U.S. is in constant communication with both the Indian and Pakistani governments following the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

“Full Support to PM Modi”

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. As President Donald Trump told Prime Minister Modi last week, the United States stands firmly with India against terrorism, and Prime Minister Modi has our full support,” said Tammy Bruce.

Communication with Both Governments

Tammy Bruce further stated, “The Secretary encouraged both countries to work towards a responsible resolution that fosters long-term peace and regional stability in South Asia. As I mentioned, we are in contact with both governments at multiple levels.” When asked whether the call for de-escalation was being heeded, Tammy Bruce responded, “We are urging both sides to pursue a responsible solution.”

Increased Tension Between India and Pakistan

The U.S. statement comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have significantly increased following the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan has been repeatedly violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC). In response, India has taken several steps against Pakistan for its support of cross-border terrorism, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty and closing the integrated check post at Attari. India has also decided to reduce the strength of their respective high commissions.
