US Defense Secretary to Host Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at Pentagon

Washington, 16th August. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will host Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at the Pentagon on August 23, the Pentagon announced. The meeting highlights the importance of the US-India defense relationship, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.

Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh confirmed the visit during a news conference on Thursday. She noted that while details of the discussions have not been disclosed, the two leaders are expected to address a range of bilateral and regional issues, aiming to strengthen the ties between the world’s two largest democracies.

Singh emphasized that the US and India share a robust military relationship, with India playing a crucial role in the Indo-Pacific strategy. She also highlighted that Defense Secretary Austin had previously visited India, reinforcing the strategic partnership.

The meeting will be the highest-ranking visit by an Indian cabinet minister to the United States since Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his third term in June. A detailed readout of the meeting will be provided afterward, Singh added.
