Gonda, 3rd July. A YouTuber based in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, has been booked for allegedly posting a video containing objectionable information about the deceased parents of IAS officer Kinjal Singh, currently serving as the Director General of the Medical Education department.
Singh, a 2008-batch officer, filed an FIR at Gomti Nagar police station against the YouTube channel ‘Usmaan Saifi Safar’, which boasts 3.33 million subscribers.
Station House Officer Deepak Pandey of Gomti Nagar stated, “Based on the IAS officer’s complaint, an FIR has been lodged under Section 501 of the IPC (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) and Section 66 of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008.”
In her complaint, Singh alleged that Usman Saifi, also known as Usman Ali from Gonda, uploaded a 12-minute and 30-second video on June 20. The video purportedly discusses the murder of Singh’s father, K.P. Singh, and the challenges faced by her mother and sisters. The video garnered over 335,000 views.
Singh denounced the video as “misleading, false, imaginary, and objectionable,” containing fabricated and baseless information that defamed her late parents’ character. She claimed the video was shared across various social media platforms, causing distress and tarnishing her reputation.
“The video was made without my family’s consent, solely based on unsubstantiated claims concocted by the journalist,” Singh emphasized. “I have been inundated with calls from concerned family and friends due to this video, causing severe mental anguish.”
Authorities are investigating the matter as Singh seeks legal recourse against the dissemination of what she alleges to be defamatory content.
