UP Court Declines Politician Shrikant Tyagi’s Bail Plea

Noida, 2nd September. A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar rejected Shrikant Tyagi’s bail application on Friday. Tyagi was arrested last month after a video of him allegedly assaulting and abusing a woman in Noida went viral.

According to the order copy, the bail application was denied by Special Judge (Gangsters Act) Ranvijay Pratap Singh in the District and Sessions Court, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Tyagi’s lawyer, Sushil Bhati, confirmed to PTI that the bail application was denied.

Tyagi, 34, was arrested on August 9 from Meerut by Noida police and charged under the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.

In addition to the Gangster’s Act, he was charged with assaulting the woman on August 5 and with cheating for using stickers and a state government symbol on his cars that were only issued to state assembly members.
