Bengaluru, 20th March.
After claiming that the suspect involved in the March 1 blast at The Rameshwaram Cafe was from Tamil Nadu, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje issued an apology and retraction.

In a statement, she said, “To my Tamil brothers & sisters, I want to clarify that my intention was not to cause harm. I realize that my words caused pain to some, and for that, I am sorry. My comments were specifically about those trained in the Krishnagiri forest linked to the Rameshwaram Cafe blast. To anyone from Tamil Nadu who was affected, I sincerely ask for your forgiveness. I also take back my previous remarks.”

She also criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for empowering radical groups to target Hindus and BJP supporters.

Later, she clarified her statement, saying, “My words were meant to shed light, not create shadows. I apologize for any hurt caused. My comments were directed towards those trained in the Krishnagiri forest.”

She claimed that the bomber involved in the Rameshwaram cafe blast was trained in Krishnagiri forests and emphasized the historical and cultural ties between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Responding to Karandlaje’s claims, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin condemned her statements and called for legal action against her for inciting division and threatening peace and unity.

Previously, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had detained a suspect from Ballary, Karnataka, in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru.

The blast occurred on March 1 at 1 pm, with CCTV footage showing a suspect placing a bag inside the cafe. The police investigation revealed the use of an IED device with a timer in the explosion.
