Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh Advocates “Indian Solutions for Indian Problems” at ViBha Convention

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the need for “Indian solutions for Indian problems” during his address at the 6th National Convention of Vigyan Bharati (ViBha) held at MIT-ADT University. Highlighting India’s unique spectrum and human phenotype, Dr. Singh underscored the importance of tailoring solutions that reflect indigenous realities.
Speaking passionately, Dr. Singh, who oversees multiple portfolios including Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and the Prime Minister’s Office, praised Vigyan Bharati (ViBha) as a cornerstone of “Swadeshi Sciences with Swadeshi Spirit.” He hailed the organization’s efforts in integrating scientific temper with traditional Indian knowledge, crucial for addressing contemporary challenges.
Reflecting on India’s scientific progress under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership since 2014, Dr. Jitendra Singh noted the significant rise in startups from 350 to approximately 1.5 lakh and India’s ascent to the 3rd position in global startup rankings. He also highlighted India’s impressive leap in the Global Innovation Index from 81st place in 2014 to 40th place in 2024, showcasing the nation’s growing prowess in innovation and research.
Addressing the disparity in healthcare data, Dr. Singh stressed the necessity of separate health data for India due to its unique genetic makeup. He advocated for an integrated approach that combines traditional knowledge with modern medicine, citing the establishment of the ‘Traditional Knowledge Digital Library’ by the Science and Technology department as a step towards harnessing India’s rich traditional wisdom.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also lauded India’s strides in space exploration and marine resources, foreseeing the Deep Sea Mission as pivotal in enhancing India’s position in the global blue economy.
In conclusion, Dr. Singh urged young scientists to uphold scientific integrity and blend public-private efforts to leverage India’s cultural and capital resources effectively. He credited Vigyan Bharati (ViBha) for its pivotal role in advancing scientific development and innovation in India.
The convention was attended by eminent personalities including Dr. Satheesh Reddy, Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Dr. Shekhar Mande, Swami Srikantananda Maharaj, and Prof. Vishwanath Karad, underscoring ViBha’s continued influence in shaping India’s scientific landscape.
