Patna, 2nd Sept. Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has been fined for overspeeding while traveling through Bihar. The e-challan was issued after Paswan’s vehicle was detected overspeeding by a newly installed e-detection system at a toll plaza.
According to reports, the incident occurred while Mr. Paswan was traveling on a national highway from Hajipur to Champaran. The Bihar Transport Department and traffic police have been actively enforcing traffic regulations with this new system.
In just one week, from August 7 to 15, the e-detection system installed at 13 toll plazas across the state has led to the issuance of over 16,700 e-challans, amounting to ₹9.49 crore in fines. Among these, 9,676 e-challans were issued to vehicles registered in other states, while 7,079 were issued to vehicles registered in Bihar.
The e-detection system not only monitors speeding but also automatically issues e-challans for other violations, including the absence of required documents. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to enforce the Motor Vehicle Act more strictly across the state.
