New Delhi, 12 Dec.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Food Processing Industries, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar said that the Central Government is making all-out efforts to make farmers and the agriculture sector prosperous. Important steps have been taken in this direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The government is also benefiting the farmers through modern technology. The government will have a large data bank of farmers, so that information such as soil investigation, flood warning, satellite pictures and land revenue records will be provided to the farmers at home.

Mr. Tomar said this while inaugurating the tenth edition of the three-day Knowledge Exchange Summit organized by Elets Technomedia.

He said that the aim of the government is to improve the economic condition of the farmers, the agriculture sector should benefit from it and the new generation should be attracted towards agriculture. In this summit organized on the subject of agricultural reforms in the country, Chief Guest Mr. Tomar said that in the past few years new dimensions have been added in agriculture and allied sectors. The Prime Minister has made this area a priority, development of states together with the village and poor-farmers is the main goal. Efforts are being made to achieve this.

Shri Tomar said that for the development of food processing industries, provisions have been made for the investment of 10 thousand crore rupees. With the opening of small food processing units, farmers will get benefit, employment opportunities will open and farmers will start getting fair price for their crops.

In line with the far-reaching thinking of the Prime Minister, the government has enacted new agricultural laws aimed at providing a fair price to farmers, increasing the income of farmers and bringing about a paradigm shift in their standard of living. Our goal is to increase the contribution of the agricultural sector to the country’s GDP, which has performed well even during the Corona crisis. The farmers have benefited from all the schemes of the government during this period and the entire agriculture sector has proved its relevance.

Shri Tomar said that along with doubling the income of farmers by the year 2022, concrete steps are being taken to attract the youth towards agriculture and increase employment opportunities. Never before has such an initiative been successfully carried out in any government, as many works have been done for the last 6 years under the leadership of Prime Minister. In order to improve the financial condition of farmers, in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme launched by the government, farmers get Rs 6 thousand every year directly in their bank account.
