Udaipur, 13th July. In the midst of ongoing investigations into the brutal killing of a tailor in Udaipur last month, four accused arrested persons were transferred to Ajmer jail on Wednesday, according to officials.

Mohsin Khan, Wasim, Asif, and Mohammed Mohsin were among those sent to prison. All four will be imprisoned until August 1.

Riyaz Ghaus and Farhat were taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had earlier searched nine locations in Rajasthan on Tuesday.

The anti-terror agency conducted searches on suspects’ homes in Udaipur. The NIA claimed to have seized digital devices (mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards) and other incriminating materials during the searches.

On June 28, Kanhaiyya Lal Teli, 47, was murdered at his shop on Maldas Street in Udaipur.

The victim was assassinated after allegedly sharing a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma, a former BJP leader who made controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad.

The case was initially filed on June 29 at the Dhanmandi Police Station in Udaipur. On June 29, the NIA re-registered the case and took over the investigation.

So far, the NIA has arrested seven people in connection with the death of Kanhaiyya Lal Teli, who was hacked to death. On July 9, the anti-terror agency announced the arrest of the seventh suspect, Farhad Mohammad Sheikh alias Babla, 31, of Udaipur.

Mohammad was a close criminal associate of one of the main killers, Riyaz Attari, and was a key figure in the plot to assassinate Kanhaiyya Lal. Six people were arrested in this case previously on June 29, July 1, and July 4.

The main suspects in the case, Riyaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad, were apprehended on June 29 by police and then by the NIA during the investigation.

The NIA, on the other hand, has not released any information about the suspects arrested on July 1 and July 4. According to the NIA FIR, “assailants involved in the ‘brutal’ murder of Kanhaiyya Lal, circulated a video of the assault with the assertion of promoting “enmity on religious grounds” and creating “panic and terror” among the masses across the country.”

The FIR is based on the complaint of Kanhaiyya’s son Yash Teli, a resident of Rajasthan’s Housing Board Colony, regarding his father’s brutal killing by two assailants armed with sharp weapons at his shop ‘Suprim Tailor,’ Bhoot Mahal Maaldas street, Udaipur.

The assailants also injured two shop workers in the incident, according to the FIR. The brutal killing took place between 3 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. on June 28 (Tuesday), and the information was received at NIA on June 29 via an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Counter-Terrorism and Counter Radicalization Division (CTCR).

Soon after the crime, the two accused, both Udaipur residents, posted a video on social media bragging about the “beheading” and threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life.
