Two Ashoka University Students Found Dead in Suspected Suicides

Sonipat, Haryana.

In a shocking incident, two students from Ashoka University in Haryana’s Sonipat were found dead in separate locations on campus between Friday night and early Saturday morning, police confirmed.

One of the students, identified as Dhruv Jyoti Sahu (20) from Telangana, allegedly jumped from the 10th floor of the university hostel building. The tragic incident occurred around 10 pm on Friday, according to Sonipat ACP Vipin Kumar. Sahu was a second-year undergraduate student at the university.

“Around 10 pm, we received information that a student had fallen from the 10th floor of the hostel building. We immediately reached the spot and confirmed that he was a second-year undergraduate student from Telangana,” ACP Kumar said.

The second student, Vignesh Guda Sah (19) from Karnataka, was found dead near the university gate at approximately 2:30 am on Saturday. He was also a second-year undergraduate student at Ashoka University.

Following the discovery of both bodies, the university administration alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the twin deaths. A suicide note was recovered from one of the spots, though its contents have not been disclosed.

The bodies have been sent to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and authorities have informed the families of the deceased students.

The incident has raised concerns about student well-being and mental health support on university campuses. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
