Two Arrested as Assam Police Seize Heroin Worth 11 Crore Hidden in Vehicle

Kamrup, 17th Nov. In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police has recovered a large quantity of heroin worth about 11 crores in Assam’s Kamrup district. Two drug peddlers have been arrested.

The operation, led by Parthasarathi Mahanta, DIG (STF), and Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ), Kamrup, took place on Thursday night. The STF team intercepted a vehicle at Amingaon in Kamrup district based on intelligence information. The vehicle was coming from Manipur’s Churachandpur district.

During the search, the STF team discovered 98 packets of heroin weighing 1.350 kg (without cover) concealed in hidden compartments of the vehicle. Two drug peddlers were apprehended. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around 11 crore, according to Parthasarathi Mahanta.

The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Tomizur Rahman of Wangoi and Abdul Rahim of Lilong, Manipur.

Legal action has been initiated at the STF police station.

In a separate incident on November 11, Assam Police seized a significant amount of contraband drugs and apprehended a drug peddler in Nagaon district. The police team, led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kaliabor, conducted an operation at Gerukamukh village in Nagaon district based on intelligence information.

During the operation, the police team seized 464 grams of heroin, along with cash worth 1,92,350, one motorcycle, and two cars. One person has been apprehended, and further investigation is underway.
