Agartala, 14th May. Just a few months ahead of assembly elections in the state, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday resigned from his post.
Biplab Deb was sworn-in as first Chief Minister of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura in 2018 ending the 25-year-rule of the Communist Party of India in Tripura.
Sources said that the Bharatiya Janata Party wanted to go with a new face in the assembly elections and Biplab Dev would be involved in organisational work.
Presently, BJP leaders Bhupender Yadav and Vinod Tawde are in Tripura as the central observers and the decision on a new leader to replace Biplab Kumar Deb is likely to be announced in the evening.
