Agartala, 7th July. The Border Security Force (BSF) has ramped up security measures at sensitive outposts and initiated a crackdown on smugglers and individuals facilitating human trafficking, a senior official confirmed.
Inspector General Patel Piyush Purushottam Das of BSF Tripura Frontier disclosed that during recent discussions in Shillong with Bangladesh Border Guards (BGB), a dossier containing a list of Bangladeshi criminals active in border regions was handed over. “The BGB has assured us of taking legal action against them,” Das informed reporters in Tripura on Saturday.
Highlighting concerns raised by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha about increased infiltration along the international border, Das emphasized that both border forces have agreed to identify vulnerable areas and conduct coordinated joint patrols.
He further outlined that intelligence-based operations have been launched to apprehend smugglers and their collaborators. Additional teams have been deployed, with a special emphasis on joint operations with state police.
Das also noted the bolstering of physical presence with advanced surveillance technologies such as AI-enabled cameras and facial recognition tools to enhance monitoring capabilities along the border.
